School Life

Here at Frederick Gent School we will start a successful and engaging journey starting from Y7 through to Y11.

Paving the Way

Preparing for secondary education begins in primary schools. We regularly visit our feeder primary and have a growing number of opportunities for primary pupils to spend time with us in school.

Transition to Year 7

Once you have selected Frederick Gent for your secondary school, transition begins in earnest. At the end of transition, all year 6 students will spend a week with us in school following a bespoke timetable.

The first few years

Our students follow a broad and balanced curriculum which continues to develop their skills. Their education is enriched with extra-curricular opportunities and supported by our pastoral care.

Option time

Whether your child wants to take traditional academic courses or follow a more vocational pathway we have that option in school. Again, the best support available is on offer to help students to make the right choices.

As the end of secondary school approaches, final exams loom. We prepare our students carefully for exams and provide extra support and intervention for those who need it. It is a tough time but our students do well and feel prepared.

Post 16 Options

Careers education begins in Year 7 and continues throughout your child’s time in school. All students are offered on-going careers advice and have the opportunity to undertake work experience in Year 10.

Life Success

As your child leaves us and moves on, we are confident that they will have the skills, resilience and flexibility to enjoy success in further education, training and employment and have a long and happy future!
